Private Amutuhereize was found guilty and court said he would serve his sentence co-currently but he can appeal against the sentence within 14 days from the date of sentence.
Court started hearing this matter yesterday and it found out that Private Amutuhereize unnecessarily shot six people killing three and three victims are currently admitted at Kampala International and Mbarara regional referral hospitals in critical conditions.
Private Amutuhereize says he wasn’t sober because he had been attacked by demons before sad the incident and pleaded for a leniency but court said he needed a deterrent sentence to discourage other soldiers from committing such offences, prompting court to order that he’s taken to government prison of Kakiika Prison Kyamugorani to start serving his sentence.
“You have a right to appeal against the decision of this court martial before the General Court Martial if you’re not satisfied in the next 14 days,” Lt. Col Mwesigwa advised before Private Amutuhereize was led away.
