Rotarians in Uganda set to construct a 25,000 blood unit
Rotarians in Uganda are set to construct a 25,000 blood unit in a bid to curb blood shortage in the country. The project championed by Rotary Uganda will see more than Shs.600 million used in construction of the rotary blood bank in partnership with Mengo hospital to supplement Nakasero blood bank.
According to the governor of the club Emmanuel Katongole, Nakasero blood bank is not enough to supply a population of 34 million people hence the need to construct a new blood bank.
Speaking at the fund raising breakfast meeting in Kampala today, Katongole said the project is expected to be completed this year.
By close of the meeting the group had pledge at Shs. 280 million.
