Retired reverend in Kiruhura charged with alleged theft of more than 50 cows to return to Court
A retired reverend in Kiruhura district, who together with other five people is accused of allegedly stealing 76 cows and 120 goats, is to be reproduced to court again before this week ends.
The retired man of God, Ampurire Richard Rwakishaija, a resident of Katengyeto cell, Kijuma parish, Rwemikooma sub-county in Kazo county Kiruhura district, was arrested in august last year, for allegedly stealing cows and goats, belonging to residents in the area and the surroundings.
His arrest followed a whistle blower, Fred Bekiita who informed people who had lost their cattle that he had seen people enter cows in Ampurire’s farm. Ampurire was later taken to court but later released on bail.
However, according to Rwizi region police spokeserson, Samson Kasasira, Ampurire was re-arrested last month after new complaints were registered at police against him, adding that he will soon appear in court again to answer to the charges.
