Protests Erupt as Naome Kabasharira and Supporters Accuse Ntungamo NRM Registrar of Corruption and Forgery

Protests have erupted in Ntungamo district as Naome Kabasharira and her supporters accuse the National Resistance Movement (NRM) of vote rigging following declaration of Rushenyi incumbent Member of Parliament in Ntungamo district, Mwesigwa Rukutana as a leading candidate in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer race by party electoral commission chairman Dr Tanga Odoi yesterday.
Angry protestors, in Kabasharira’s absence today blocked Ntungamo-Kabale road accusing the party of rigging in favor of Rukutana who doubles as State Minister for labour and industrial development many in Rwentobo,Rwahi and Rubaare calling for immediate resignation of the district NRM registrar Maria Mirembe accusing her of forgery and corruption.
While at the party headquarters Kyadondo road Kampala where he declared Rukutana ahead of Naome Kabasharira yesterday, Odoi revealed that this was after tallying results from over 12 polling stations but final results will be announced after two days.
Kabasharira expressed dissatisfaction with the re-tallying as she maintains that Rushenyi people are ready for the next move as well as accusing Maria of being corrupt and compromised.
