President Museveni to give State of the Nation Address tomorrow.
President of the Republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri K Museveni will tomorrow Thursday June 6, 2019 give a State of Nation Address at Kampala Serena Hotel including the economic state and progress in the yet to end financial year 2018/19 plus plans for the coming year 2019/20 which will start in July.
Nearing reading of the National Budget for the FY year 2019/20 by finance minister on Thursday next week at the same venue, the event will attract different officials.
Preliminary figures released by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) on Friday last week put Uganda’s economic growth 2018/19 at 0.1 percentage points lower than last year’s growth, from 6.2 percent in the fiscal year 2017/2018 to 6.1 percent.
Uganda’s national budget 2019/20 stands at Shs40.5 trillion and government plans to spend 10.6 trillion on its operations, 7.7 trillion is development budget while 9.4 trillion is external financing.
The works ministry has received 6.4 trillion, education 3.2 trillion, energy 2.9 trillion, health 2.5 trillion, security 3.6 trillion,agriculture one trillion, justice law and order 1.6 trillion, accountability 1.9 trillion.
Some of the ministries have received a reduction in their funds and these include water and environment from 1.2 trillion to one trillion, lands and housing from 202 billion to 193 billion , science and technology 184 billion to 159 billion.
