Parliament’s select committee on sexual violence in schools visits western region
Parliament’s Select Committee set up to probe allegations of sexual harassment in institutions of learning is in western region for five days, starting today.
In April this year, Parliament set up this committee to inquire into allegations of sexual violence in schools. This followed a motion by National Female Youth MP Anna Adeke Ebaju who sought for a resolution of parliament to inquire into allegations of sexual violence in schools.
This is after different media of sexual harassment in institutions of learning like Kibuli Secondary School, where the Head Teacher, Ali Muggaga, was accused of sexually abusing female students.
Mwine Mpaka, the western Youth member of Parliament who is a member of the committee says they have come with a big team, including police. The team is meeting the district leaders this afternoon.
