Opposition leaders Kizza Besigye,Muntu,Kyagulanyi,Amuriat combine efforts ahead of General Election
Opposition leaders including 4-time presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye and current candidates Patrick Amuriat Oboi (FDC), Mugisha Muntu (ANT), Robert Kyagulanyi (NUP) have this morning held a closed meeting before addressing journalists at Hotel Africana ahead of 14th January General Election.
Below are the takeaways from the press conference.
”We would like to urge the EC to stand firm and be bold, the law is with them and the country will be with them,” Muntu.
”I have been a presidential candidate four times but i have never seen such violence in campaigns like i have seen this time. I congratulate these brave gentlemen that have traversed the country within 60 days . The campaign period was incredibly short and candidates had 60 days to traverse 351 electoral constituencies. Make no mistake, this was never about COVID-19. This regime doesn’t care about COVID-19, go to downtown and see what’s there, people are gathering uninterrupted,” Besigye.
”Don’t be used to mess up your country. Don’t be used to murder people. You can’t finish all Ugandans and you won’t be proud of yourself. We encourage voters to stay at the polling station after voting. There is no law that you will be breaking if you stay behind,” Bobi Wine.
”I want to tell the EC that if they can’t organize a free and fair election, then they are a useless organisation,” Oboi.
