One out four arrested officials from Ministry of Local Government-Mitooma District pleads guilty.
Four Officials from Ministry of Local Government-Mitooma District have been charged before the Anticorruption court in Kololo, with six counts of corruptly soliciting and receiving bribes to offer jobs in the said Ministry.
The four include Amon Byamugisha the Senior Human Resource Officer, and Saverinus Bayendeza the Community Development Officer who are alleged to have corruptly offered jobs to Keleth Atamba as Procuremnt Officer, Onesmus Agaaba as Human Resource Officer and Sarah Kiconco as Community Development Officer Mitooma District Local Government.
Amon Byamugisha is alleged to have solicited for a bribe of 2.5 mshs from a one Keleth Atamba and received 1.5mshs on his moblie phone to secure for Atamba a job as procurement officer. Amon Byamugisha is further alleged to have received 2mshs to secure a job for Onesmus Agaaba as Human Resource Officer, while Saverinus Bayendeza received 2mshs on his mobile phone to secure a job for Sarah Kiconco as Community Development Officer.
IGG alleges that in April/2018 she got information that there was corruption and extortion of money by the Technical Staff of Mitooma District Service Commission from some candidates, while some staff had conflict of interest but never disclosed the same, which prompted her to swing into action a result of which the four accused persons were arrested.
They have appeared before Grade One Magistrate Abert Asiimwe and Amon Byamugisha, Saverinus Bayendeza and Sarah Kiconco denied the charges but Onesmas Agaaba has pleaded guilty to sending money to Amon Byamugisha’s phone number amounting to 2.020.000shs to secure him a job as Human Resource Officer of Mitooma District Local Government.

Proceedings to sentence Onesmus Agaaba are still going on.
