NRM Releases CEC Election Program, To Hold Scientific Delegates’ Conference
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party will not hold its National Delegates Conference at Namboole Stadium for the first time in a long time, due to the COVID-19 guidelines.
According to a program released by the party’s Director of Communications, Emmanuel Dombo Lumala on Monday morning, the National Executive Council meetings and later the National Conference shall take place at designated district levels where elections of vice chairpersons will consequently take place.
“The NRM released a political roadmap on 17th July 2020, and declared open the various offices that are due for election, including the Executive Committee positions for the national offices and other political elective offices for national and Local Government offices. Several members have since been duly nominated and the vetting process is ongoing,” said Dombo.
The party’s Central Executive Committee has already conducted vetting of candidates and recommended names to NEC, which is expected to convene tomorrow.
“The NEC will now sit on Tuesday 18th August 2020 to consider the report of CEC. They will then, after approval, make its recommendation to the National Conference the names of the candidates to be voted on,” said Dombo.
“The NRM decided to conduct a decentralized high-breed NEC meeting which will be virtual and interactive on Tuesday 18th August 2020, at the designated regional centers.”
All the candidates who will be recommended to the National Conference will address the NRM members through the media, TV and radio stations on the Wednesday the 19th August 2020, from the NRM headquarters on Plot 10. Kyadondo Rd.
The National Conference will also be decentralized and will take place on Thursday 20th August 2020 at the various district headquarters.
