No one is above the law: Minister Rukutana remanded to Kyamugolani
The trouble surrounding State Minister for Labour and Industrial development Mwesigwa Rukutana who has lost Rushenyi County MP NRM flag to Naomi Kabasharira is intensifying after being implicated in a shooting case in Ntungamo district.
He was today Monday, September 7 charged with attempted murder, assault, inciting violence, malicious damage in and remanded to Kyamugolani prison in Mbarara until tomorrow Tuesday, when they can apply for bail.
Rukutana was on Saturday arrested together with his 3 escorts and driver before being transferred to Mbarara on three charges of attempted murder, inciting violence and malicious damage.

Rukutana, 3 escorts and driver still in cells at Mbarara CPS awaiting prosecution on charges of attempted murder, malicious damage and inciting violence, according to Police.
Gen Kahinda Otafire, Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, businessmen Ben Kavuya and Bob Kabonero reportedly appeared at Mbarara CPS to secure Rukutana’s bond on Sunday,all in vain.
Background: According to the DPC Ntungamo SP Katwesiime Damian, On the fateful day (Saturday) at around 10 am he received information that Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana had shot at and maliciously damaged the motor vehicle (Rav 4) of one Dan Rweiburungi, a resident of Kagugu parish in Rubare sub county, a supporter of Hon Naome Kabasharira (won NRM flag bearer race Rushenyi constituency Ntungamo district).
The scene of crime was visited, in an isolated Kagugu parish along the road between two farms of which one is for the suspect (Hon. Rukutana).
At about mid-day, the joint security team of army and police arrested the honourable minister and his bodyguards – No. 46613 PC. Egec Paul, No. 62477 PC. Kozala Faizo, RA 215020L/Cpl. Okello John Bosco,their guns,driver Niwamanya,and all were taken to Mbarara CPS for custody.
The victim was taken to DRS hospital Rubare with a cut on the hind head and on his own request was given a referral to Mbarara regional referral hospital where he today revealed that he wasn’t shot, the same indicated by medical report.
