No Nomination fees or academic qualifications required for SIGs as Nomination kicks off
Nominations for special interest groups across the country kick off today with different political parties saying they are ready to field candidates from village to national level.
The Special Interest Groups include Persons With Disabilities, youth and workers.
According to the electoral commission deputy spokesperson Paul Bukenya, all arrangements are in place to ensure smooth nominations and subsequent elections.
He says they have delivered all the voting materials and have trained personnel to conduct the elections.
Bukenya says the nominations exercise will be conducted for a period of six days starting today Wednesday 29th July, 2020 to Wednesday 5th August, 2020 at all the subcounty, municipal and division headquaters.
The exercise will be from 9:00AM to 5:00PM on each weekday and no nomination fees or academic qualifications will be required.
According to Bukenya, after the nominations, campaigns will commence from the 6th of August, 2020 up to 10th August, 2020 and poliing will take place on different dates during the month of August.
