Museveni Launches NRM Manifesto, Cautions against giving money to voters
President Museveni has launched the NRM party manifesto 2016-2021 . The manifesto lists 12 priority areas for the party over the next five years which include strengthening security, good governance and democracy; consolidating growth, employment and macro-economic stability.
Others on the list are agriculture, industry, tourism, human capital development, health and infrastructure development for competitiveness.
Unveiling the manifesto titled, “Steady Progress: ‘Taking Uganda to Modernity Through Job-Creation and Inclusive Development,’ Museveni ,the NRM national chairman and presidential flag bearer, says part of their strategy is to deal with the bottlenecks that hinder development.
Museveni has also urged party supporters to desist from bribing voters in the upcoming elections as a strategy to secure genuine victory.
He said being voted into power is not a favour by the electorates.
“Why do you have to give money to voters? Who pays those who go to church? You have created a situation as if you’re employees of the population. They take you as if they have done you a favour by putting you in power. The relationship between voters and leaders should be in such a way that you move together,” he said.
According to him, leaders are delegates of the electorates.
