Mps demand Minster Amongi’s resignation
A section of mps have lashed at the minister of Lands Betty Amongi over allegations that she used her office to grab both government and private land, they have called for her resignation.
The Land commission headed by lady justice Catherine Bamugemeirire spent the last two days querying Minister Amongi on different circumstances under which she obtained a number of government properties with the use of her private company AMOBET.
The Mp for Manjiya County in Bududa district John Baptist Nambeshe says its unfortunate that Amongi, from the opposition party, that is supposed to oversee government, turned herself into a disgrace to society when she used her office to grab land that she is supposed to monitor.
He says the process is already on for mps to collect signature for her censure because she is no longer fit to serve in her capacity as a Land minister.
The Busongola North Mp William Nzoghu wants parliament to stay the passing of the ministry of Land’s budget for the coming financial year until Minister Amongi leaves office to give space for further investigations.
