Motor dealers Oppose ban on Importation of old cars
The association of motor dealers has protested the government move to ban the importation of the vehicles above 8 years warning that this will continue destroying the environment.
Appearing before the finance committee of Parliament, led by their secretary general Marvin Ayebale motor dealers say that due to high taxes people are going to stay on importing vehicles and continue with the old vehicles that are destroying the environment.
He adds that for small vehicles the period should be at least 15 years and for business vehicles the limit should be 25 years as government think of having assembling plant of vehicles in the country.
He contends that government should instead improve on the policy of the regular maintenance of cars to reduce on the environmental pollution.
