Minister Kutesa’s daughter Musherure and President Museveni’s brother Sodo accuse each other in voters register scandal in MP race
National Resistance Movement (NRM) authorities are working tirelessly to resolve the seeming misunderstanding between Foreign Affairs minister and Mawogola North incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Sam Kahamba Kutesa’s daughter Shatsi Kutesa Musherure and President Museveni’s younger brother Sodo Aine Godfrey Kaguta who are vying for the same seat in Sembabule district.
Ahead of NRM Party primaries, Sodo accuses Musherure of allegedly conniving with some authorities including registrars to delete some of his supporters from the registers in places like Rugushuru sub county where the registrar Geofrey Katokoozi has intervened.
Musherure, whose twin sister Charlotte is married to the first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba says the guidelines are very clear and no new voter can be added past the register display period, refuting Sodo’s allegations.
Recently, a group of youth accompanying Aine, his brothers Sedrack Nzeire who is the Kiruhura district NRM chairman and Michael Niwagira Toyota stormed a meeting between Musherure and Rugushuru registrar Katokoozi at the sub county headquarters, an act that almost turned chaotic.
Both Godfrey Aine and Shartis Musherure have denied involvement in the said irregularities saying they are equally affected by inconsistencies despite the presumption that they are well placed because of their social status.
NRM will hold MPs primaries on Friday, September 4, 2020 followed by LCs on September 14, 2020 and the party electoral commission chairman,Dr. Tanga Odoi has vowed to disqualify whoever bleaches the guidelines as stipulated.
