Mesut Ozil to miss Arsenal’s next crucial fixtures with a hamstring injury
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Mesut Ozil will be out for ‘at least a few weeks’ after injuring his hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich.
The midfielder was subbed at half-time during last night’s Champions League last-16 second leg, and saw Bayern and Germany’s team doctor Hans Muller Wohlfahrt.
He confirmed the injury was a bad one and Wenger admitted after the match that Ozil will likely miss crunch matches against Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City.
‘He has a hamstring problem that looks quite serious,’ said Wenger.
‘I don’t know how long he will be out for. For sure, he is out of Spurs.
‘We have to make a scan tomorrow to see how bad it is but he is out at least for a few weeks. I hope it’s not too bad.’
Arsenal face Spurs on Sunday before playing Chelsea (a) on March 22, Swansea (h) on 25th and City (h) on 29th.
Ozil will have a scan to determine the full extent of his injury later today.
