Members of Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group wants salary review commission formed.
Members of Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) in Kigezi region are advocating for the formation of a salary review commission to determine salaries structure of civil servants.
The members made the remarks today while addressing a press conference
on the arbitrary increase of Members of Parliament allowances at Kick Corruption out of Uganda offices in Kabale Municipality.
In April 2019 during the budget process for the financial year 2019/2020, the Uganda Members of Parliament increased their allowances by 39 per cent and that of parliamentary staff by 15 per cent, citingrising costs of living.
Addressing journalists today, the Kick Corruption out of Uganda programs Officer Denis Niwarinda said that the Members of Parliament increased their allowances without considering other civil servants and added that if the salary review commission is formed, it will set basis on which salaries of different government workers will be paid.
