Mbarara USMID fund increases from Shs40 billion to 86.5.
Mbarara metropolitan city will receive Shs86.5 billion compared to Shs40 billion under Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program for the phase 2013-2018.
This was revealed by minister of Lands,Housing and Urban Development,Chris Baryomunsi who was among the guests that accompanied President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to commission roads in Mbarara metropolitan city on July 26, 2019.
The commissioned roads were Macalister Road (Liverpool House-Kabatereine),Constantine Lobo road (Baguma – Kabatereine),and others,all part of the Shs40 billion USMID fund under world bank,in partnership with ministry of lands,housing and urban development for the phase 2013-2018.
Shs86.5 billion have been given to Mbarara for USMID phase 2 starting this year.
President Museveni after commissioning, he cautioned people to work hard and have income generating activities in their homes to curb down poverty.
It is currently estimated that 75 people on 100, in Mbarara district, consume what they grow and are left with no food to sell for income,many living below the poverty line.
