Mbarara – UPDF disqualifies youth without national IDs
Over 35 youth have have been disqualified in the recruitment exercise of the Uganda People’s Defence forces (UPDF) in the districts of Mbarara, Kiruhura, Ibanda and Isingiro due to lack of national identity cards.
According to the Army 2nd division spokes person Ronald Kakurungu, the force is working hand in hand with the identity card issuance body – the electoral commission to see that those whose IDs have not been issued due to various reason but were registered, do not miss out.
The three day recruitment exercise which started today (Monday, 12th October) and ends on Wednesday (14th October) is targeting those who sat for Uganda certificate of exams in the year 2013 and are between ages 18 and 25.
