Mbarara regional referral hospital admits 2nd COVID_19 patient
Mbarara regional referral hospital has admitted a 2nd COVID_19 patient,a Ugandan cargo truck driver who tested positive for COVID-19 at Mirama Hills Border in Ntungamo district from Rwanda and was yesterday evening May 19,2020 intercepted at Kikagate in Isingiro District en route to Tanzania.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Isingiro district Herbert Muhangyi said that the driver had spent a day around Kikagate town before being evacuated to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital by a COVID_19 team.
The Director Mbarara regional referral hospital Dr. Celestine Barigye confirms the admission of the second COVID_19 case,calling upon the RDC Isingiro and District Health Officer to trace this case’s contacts.
This becomes the second confirmed case in isolation at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital following the Ugandan driver who had entered via Malaba to Rwanda and was intercepted at No Man’s land Mirama Hills over the weekend as he returned to Uganda before he was evacuated to Mbarara referral hospital. All are in a stable condition.
