Mbarara – Police cautions social media users
Police in Mbarara has cautioned social media lovers to exercise caution when dealing with sites like Facebook.
Recently, one of the dailies in the country reported that seven girls had been raped in the last month alone by cunning men they meet on Facebook.
Although no statistics are available on the number of those who could have been exposed to online sexual abuse in the district, OCID Mbarara police station, Taban Chiriga advises the population to be mindful of who they communicate with .
Recently, the coordinator child trafficking and sexual abuse task force, Moses Binoga acknowledged that police in Uganda are working with the ministry of Internal Affairs to form a working group that will intervene to deal with cyber-crime via Facebook.
Meanwhile, Eunice Musiime ,Board chairperson Fida Uganda calls on parents and teachers in schools to monitor sites visited by their children.
