Mbarara NUP manifesto launch is cleared – Police

Rwizi region police spokesperson, ASP Samson Kasasira has confirmed that tomorrow’s launch of National Unity Platform-NUP 2021-26 manifesto and official opening of their offices is cleared.
The venue has been changed from Kakoba to Kakyeka playground Mbarara city.
Kasasira warned candidates and the entire public to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs in the fight against COVID-19 and avoid violence especially during this political season.
Uganda People’s Defence Force – UPDF and other security forces this morning mounted roadblocks at the entry and exit points of Mbarara city western Uganda and you must identify yourself,where you are coming from, where you are heading.
NUP Presidential Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Bobi Wine is expected on this event, Buremba road in Kakoba.
Kasasira confirmed that security and other authorities inspected the venue and NUP officials have been cautioned to ensure that the event is strictly attended by 70 or less people as per the SOPs.
Meanwhile, a section of National Resistance Movement-NRM cadres have vowed to conduct several activities in Mbarara town tomorrow to overshadow NUP event.
A group President Museveni/NRM supporters have also protested Bobi Wine’s visit prompting Mbarara RDC Lt. Col. James Mwesigye to warn them, that no one should stop Bobi Wine because he’s a presidential candidate free to visit all parts of Uganda but under guidelines.B
