Mbarara Leaders Express Concern Over Dirty Water
Mbarara district councilors have expressed concern over lack of access to clean and safe water by the population due to village local council leaders failing to conduct community meetings that identify challenges and needs in the community.
This was revealed during the Mbarara district council session chaired by Deputy District Speaker Venansio Munanukye sitting at Kamukuzi district council.
RDC Mbarara Lt Col James Mwesigye and the acting Chief Administrative Officer Edward Kasagara attended and contributed in guiding the district councilors where need arose.
Addressing the district council, the district chairperson Capt JB Bamuturaki Tumusiime blasted some local leaders who confuse and fail to tell the truth of the matter on meeting payments to people who use tap water supplied by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation.
Cat Tumusiime explained that it’s the responsibility of village local council leaders to conduct community meetings to make decisions and later make reports that should be shared with sub county or town council and district leaders for tabling the needs to respective councils for action.
