Mbarara district council drafts budgets for financial year 2019/2020.
Mbarara district council has laid two draft budgets of financial year 2019/2020 for Mbarara district and newly created Rwampala district.
The two budget estimates were read by Bazil Batarigaya Rwakwene the secretary for finance, who is also the district councilor representing Rubindi sub-county in the council chaired by the deputy speaker Vernasi Munanukye.
According to Batarigaya, Mbarara district come 2019/2020 FY expects funding amounting to Shs 23.600 billion while Rwampala district, expects Shs 17.600 billion totaling to 41billion.
Batarigaya said that for the local revenue, they expect to collect Shs 663 million as Mbarara district and the remaining will be from central government while Rwampala local revenue of Shs 400 million will be from the central government.
He noted much of the money was located in education almost a half of the budget followed by administration, production among others.
The district chairman Capt. JB Tumusiime Bamuturaki noted that year’s local revenue reduced due to challenges they faced in some markets like kyeshama which was big source local level of the district.
He noted that as the district they are finding other ways of looking revenue calling up on people to pay tax for better service delivery
