Mbarara district and Municipal leaders meet after Lt.Col. Nakalema’s scary arrests
A closed door meeting among the leaders in Mbarara, to resolve what they term as ‘confusion’ is underway at Generation Suits in Mbarara.
The meeting being attended by both municipal and district leaders, as well as RDC and his deputy among other leaders, follows a number of abuse of office related cases, that have put the district on the spot for months now.
Last month, The State House Anti-Corruption Unit led by Lieutenant Colonel Edith Nakalema Stormed Mbarara district headquarters, and arrested six officials, including the district Chief Administrative officer, Cuthbert Esoku, accusing them of allegedly mismanaging government structures and land.
Two weeks ago, Nakalema led unit returned to Mbarara, and arrested the town clerk, Edward Lwanga and Municipal treasurer, Richard Karere on allegations of false accountability, and misuse of 360 million Uganda shillings meant to rehabilitation of Koranorya road in Biharwe division, Mbarara municipality.
A reliable source attending the meeting, in which the media is not allowed, told Croozefm that they are finding a lasting solution to these issues.
