Mbarara ANT flag-bearers decry security intimidation as they launch campaign task force
Flag bearers under the Alliance for National Transformation -ANT in Mbarara city have decried security intimidation from some security officers including the district internal security officer-DISO Mr. Bagampangire Peter whom they claim he has started asking for their CVs and other details.
Even campaign managers are reportedly being intimidated, not to support ANT aspirants.
While unveiling the Mbarara city ANT campaign task force, Mbarara city south MP aspirant who doubles as the task force publicity secretary, Naswiru Sekamate Nestroy Tauba said this might cause fear but asked the public and aspirants to stay calm and strong.
The task force comprising 7 people will be serving until a permanent team is selected and confirmed with the involvement of officials from the national headquarters.
The team has asked the Electoral Commission to announce the official campaign roadmap otherwise aspirants have started campaigning as government prepares itself.
In Mbarara city alone, ANT has successfully had 23 candidates nominated from council to MP level including human rights advocate Celestine Mugisha Otatine who is contesting as Mbarara city north MP,Global High School Director of Studies Lubega Muhamadi Medi contesting as city division councilor Kakoba Central-Kaypotani in Kakoba Mbarara city south,among others.
