Man runs mad after a 5-kilometre road run during UPDF recruitment.
Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF) recruitment team on Thursday, January 3,2020 was left speechless when a one Patrick Olet, a resident of Agweng Sub County in Lira District northern Uganda went for UPDF recruitment at Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira and ran mad after running five kilometres in a road run exercise.
According to Maj Caesar Olweny, the UPDF 4th Division Spokesperson ,Olet started exhibiting weird behaviors after finishing 5 kilometres of the road run exercise which is the first test.
“He had come to try his luck but he could not make it to the final stage. We rushed him to the hospital together with other candidates who had collapsed. We were later able to contact their family members to inform them about their conditions,” Olweny said.
UPDF seeks to recruit 4000 regular and professional officers during this recruitment process that will end tomorrow on January 5, 2019,the exercise started on December 27,2019.
The allowed recruits are s.4 leavers, those with vocational and technical training, s.6 leavers who did science combinations, and those who completed university must have studied science courses. Should be between the age of 18-25, without health any health complication. Professionals must possess a degree or diploma in engineering, chemistry and medicine,between 18 and 30 years old. Professional Science Teachers and those of languages of French, Kiswahili and English or Literature (Secondary) are also allowed. You must have your papers , including letters from offices of the LC 1, and 3 chairpersons,District Security Officer (DISO),plus original National ID, single and with no child.
