Makerere University Management, Executive engage to resolve Crisis
Makerere university top management engages the executive leadership of Makerere University Academic Staff Association (Muasa) and Makerere Administrative Staff Association (MASA) to find a remedy to the ongoing strike.
Yesterday, Students were left stranded at the campus for the second day when they found empty or locked lecture rooms following the staff strike.
The strike followed the suspension of the chairperson of Makerere University Academic Staff Association, Dr. Deus Kamunyu, Dr. Bennet Magara, the chairperson of Makerere Administrative Staff Association, and his general secretary, Joseph Kalema, for alleged indiscipline and inciting fellow staff.
Addressing a press conference at the university, the acting vice chancellor Professor Eria Hisali says the university council which is the top decision making organ is currently meeting the leaders of the two associations to resolve their grievances.
