Lwemiyaga County MP Ssekikubo arrested during anti-quarantine protest.
Friday Jan 10, 2020.
Lwemiyaga Member of Parliament (MP) Hon Theodore Ssekikubo has been arrested during a protest where he led herdsmen to defy a government quarantine on the movement of cattle in Sembabule district.
Ssekikubo was arrested this morning amid a scuffle where hundreds of herdsmen and cattle dealers were expressing concern over continued blockage of access to the cattle market in Lwemiyaga town council.
He accuses Sembabule district security authorities for illegally and unjustifiably enforcing a quarantine on the sub-counties of Lwemiyaga and Ntuusi despite them being free from Foot and Mouth Disease.
The Legislator who mobilized his subjects to massively protest was detained at Masaka Central Police Station, according to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga.
Police has preferred charges of assault, inciting violence and malicious damage to property against him.
