Lt. Gen. (rtd) Tumukunde’s ‘Treason Without Reason’ case adjourned
Retired Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde says he is preparing a press statement to be issued in two days; as he appeared at Buganda road court to honour his bail granted to him on 11 th this month by the High court in Kampala after facing charges of Treason and Unlawful possession of firearms and ammunitions.
Tumukunde in company of his Lawyers led by Anthony Wameli appeared before City Hall court Grade One Magistrate Valerian Tuhimbise to know the stage of investigations and Prosecution’s Joseph Kyomuhendo informed court they are still ongoing.
This prompted his Lawyers Anthony Wameli and Geoffrey Turyamusiima to apply to court to give the State the last adjournment to conclude its investigations; but State Attorney Kyomuhendo said they are constrained by the prevailing conditions of the COVID-19 lockdown which restricted movement.
Magistrate Tuhimbise then concurred with the State adding that the Chief Justice also gave guidelines to suspend hearing of cases except for bail applications.
Tumukunde who intends to inform the Nation on how he spent the close to two months in Luzira prison after his arrest in March this year; returns to court on 22nd June.
