Leaders divided over Mbarara south headquarters
Leaders in Nyamitanga and Nyakayojo divisions Mbarara city are divided after Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi’s directive that Nyamitanga becomes Mbarara southern division headquarters yet it is still renting premises instead of Nyakayojo that has enough land.
Mbarara city will have two divisions after 2021 general elections with south comprising Nyamitanga, Nyakayojo, Kakoba and north comprising Kakiika (headquarters), Kamukuzi, Biharwe.
The disagreements have prompted the incumbent city mayor Mr Kakyebezi Robert to call for intervention of the ministry since he can’t handle this independently.
According to the chairperson Nyakayojo division Jommo Mugabi, the minister was misled by selfish leaders including Moses Kajubi the LC 3 Chairman for Nyamitanga therefore Nyamitanga should temporarily be headquarters and when time for construction comes the headquarters will be constructed in Nyakayojo.
The interim Mayor Mbarara city Robert Mugabi Kakyebezi has pledged to consult the relevant authorities so that the matter can be resolved.
