Kigezi Bishop cautions people against environmental degradation.
The Bishop of Kigezi diocese Rt Rev George Bagamuhunda has cautioned people against bush burning, unnecessary cutting of trees and other forms of environmental degradation.
Bishop Bagamuhunda made the call while delivering his
festive season message at his office at Rugarama hill in Kabale Municipality.
Bishop Bagamuhunda advises that the people should embrace conservation
of the environment and condemn the practice of bush burning, and
unnecessary cutting of trees saying that acts can cause landslides and
He also appealed to farmers to practice better farming methods such as
mulching, crop rotation, and terracing saying that this will help to
protect the soil from floods and landslides.
Bagamuhunda also said there is a need for clergy and political leaders
to sensitize the masses about the need to protect the environment for
current and future generations.
