Kevin Hart set to play the lead in new Monopoly movie after Oscars hosting controversy.
Kevin Hart is due to pass GO and collect his dollars after signing on for a new post-Oscars-gate movie lead.
The actor has reportedly joined the Monopoly movie, based on the famous boardgame, leaving the hysteria surrounding the December 2018 homophobia row firmly behind him. Kevin has been re-hired by Ride Along and Night School director Tim Story to produce and star in a live-action film about the multi-player trading game, Deadline reported on Thursday.
The movie has been in the works at toy-makers Hasbro for 10 years but this is the first major news to come out of the project since Lionsgate acquired the rights in 2015. At the time of publishing, IMDb outlined a proposed storyline about a trio of children who discover that the inventor of Monopoly hid a coded secret in the game, which sparks an adventure across the streets of Atlantic City.
Actor Kevin is attempting to bury the last few months of controversy surrounding the reasons why he dropped out of hosting the 91st Academy Awards, taking place next month.
He confirmed once and for all that he was ‘over it’ 10 days ago when he insisted that he had not been asked back for the hosting gig.
