Kasese flood victims to vacate schools ahead of reopening
As many schools prepare for the re-opening for the candidate classes on October 15, Kasese district authorities are not sure of the fate of candidates because many school structures were destroyed by floods that hit the area in May 2020.
Kasese municipality leadership however says despite schools having been destroyed by floods candidates must resume studies when the time comes.
Kasese municipal mayor Kabyanga Godfrey said that for those whose schools were completely washed away, they will be accommodated by other schools.
According to the Kasese municipal education officer Kayiri Emmy, schools that were not affected by floods will accommodate the smaller number of candidates as schools and shools that are still housing flood victims like Kanyangeya primary school will also re-open because places where the victims will relocate to are being identified.
