Kabale food vendors storm Mayors Office Protesting the ban on their business
Over 70 food and clothes vendors have this morning stormed the office of mayor for Kabale Municipal protesting the decision by Municipal council authorities to ban their business.
In March this year, authorities issued a ban on street food vending as one of the preventive measures against the spread of COVID -19, following a survey which was discovered that the vendors’ hygiene is wanting.
They were conducting business without sanitary essentials like soap and water for washing hands.
However, the vendors defied the municipal directive and returned to the streets before the municipal Law Enforcement Officers seized their items.
The Mayor for Kabale Municipality Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha then asked them carry soap and water and put on face masks.
