Isingiro man arrested with fake gun in Mbarara
Mbarara police have arrested God Byaruhanga,35, a Matooke vendor and resident of Nyakitunda village, Isingiro district who was found with a fake gun in Mbarara city.
Rwizi region Police Spokesperson, Samson Kasasira, says Byaruhanga and his accomplice were intercepted last night July 14,2020 from Nkokonjeru cell Kamukuzi Division where they were trying to rob a Boda Boda rider.
“As Police we were able to arrest Byaruhanga but his accomplice who he claims to be the ring leader Dogo Black also a matooke vendor managed to escape but the hunt for him is on”, he said.
Kasasira says the last night operation followed an outcry from residents of Boma,and Nkokonjeru cells in Kamukuzi division, who complained of armed robbers terrorizing them at night.
Agnes Kwarikunda, a resident of Kiyanja, a victim said she was waylaid last week at around 7:30 Pm while heading home, she was beaten and her bag containing Ugx 50,000 and a phone taken.
Kasasira, says that robbers are using curfew hours to terrorize isolated places with residences.
Even though curfew is still on, theft cases in Mbarara are on an increase with the recent being on Saturday the 11/07/2020 when three men were arrested from Nyarubanga cell, Kakiika Division Mbarara City with cattle in a Toyota wish motor vehicle registration number UBF 859 K.
