Ibanda People cry for Relief Food
A cross-section of residents of Mpiira street, Bufunda Division in Ibanda Municipality are asking government and authorities in Ibanda to distribute relief food in their area because they are no longer earning any income due to the imposed lockdown and curfew.
On 4th April 2020, the government started distributing food in Kampala and Wakiso districts to vulnerable people who have been affected by the ongoing lockdown in the country as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID -19).
Mpiira Streets residents are insisting that they should also be considered among the vulnerable because they are among the hardest-hit areas within Ibanda District.
The residents include youth and married people who survive from mouth to hand in Kitimba Garages, saloons, washing bays, local hotels among others.
Kiviri Moses, the chairperson LC1 Mpiira Street in Ibanda Municipality has said that the Government needs to intervene immediately and help them because the situation is becoming worse almost every day.
