Chief Justice launches scientific Court of Appeal in Mbarara
The acting Chief Justice Owiny Dollo has launched a Court of Appeal session at Mbarara High Court which will run for 30 days where 40 criminal cases will be heard by Justice Elizabeth Musoke.
According to the case-list for the session, 26 of the 40 cases are murder appeals, 8 aggravated defilement, 3 aggravated robbery, and 3 rape cases. Two of the murder appellants are seeking to overturn life sentences earlier imposed on them by the High Court.
Justice Owiny says the scientific approach will enable the Justices handle cases expeditiously as well as observing the Ministry of Health Guidelines on COVID-19.
