Government tasked to allocate funds for the Aids Trust Fund
A number of members of parliament have tasked government to allocate funds for the Aids Trust Fund as required by law.
The chairperson of the HIV/AIDS Committee of Parliament who is also the mp for Sironko district Florance Namboozo said that COVID-19 disease effects would affect HIV patients, calling for government to release AIDS fund Trust as required by the law.
She said that most of the donors have pulled out of funding HIV/AIDS activities.
Namboozo was supported by the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga asked the government to declare its sustainability plan after donors have pulled out.
The state minister for planning David Bahati said that as government, it understands the gravity of the matter and they are discussing to start building this fund next financial year.
