Generation Suits Hotel boss disagrees with Mbarara district councilors on new rent charges.
Western Uganda – The owner of Generation Suits Hotel in Mbarara town,Mr.Angello Muyambi has vowed not to pay Shs 5 million monthly rent charge to Mbarara district local government following a move by councilors who have ganged up to increase the monthly fee from the current Shs500,000.
Formerly Nganwa Hostel, the hotel which is found in Kamukuzi near district headquarters was named Generation Suits years ago after serious renovation on expense of Muyambi who spent millions on it.
The resolution to increase his rent was passed through council decision last week at Kinoni Sub-county Council Hall new Rwampara district where Mbarara District held a council meeting.
According to Muyambi who signed a bidding agreement and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) 10 years ago, he is not willing to pay 5 m may be if they intend to refund his renovation costs.
‘’The then Chief administrative officer and attorney general signed, so they have no powers on this. Let them cancel my contract, but they can pay highly,’’- Muyambi.
One of the Councilors Jordan Mucunguzi who raised a motion says the agreement has expired.
Recently Muyambi applied for a lease for the same premises but according to the information from the District, his application was not put on hold till today.
