Gen Muntu to Stand for President
The road to the 2016 presidency is getting hotter with FDC president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu announcing his intention to stand as the party flag bearer in the 2016 elections.
“I have been traversing the country with the aim of building party structures but now I am offering myself as a flag bearer and the doors are open to whoever wants to stand against me,” said the leader of Uganda’s largest opposition political organisation.
He said once elected, he would give his all to capture power in the much-anticipated election.
The announcement comes just hours after former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi said he would as well contest for the highest political seat in NRM and national presidency.
Muntu also promised to support the winner of the FDC internal elections should he lose the race.
