Former ADF Leader Jamil Mukulu Withdraws Bail application
56-year-old jailed rebel and former ADF leader Jamil Mukulu has broken down as he implored his Biological Mother 74-year-old Nakiyemba Aisha to forgive him; in anyway he has wronged her, as a child.
Mukulu also requested his Mother, his wife and children to go register with the National Unity Party Political Organisation that is under People Power for the forthcoming general elections.
This after he maintained his earlier stand not to apply for bail before the International Crimes Division Judge Susan Okalany whom she accused of being biased and anti-muslim.
Through his Lawyers led by Anthony Wameli, Mukulu has this morning applied to withdraw his application since Justice Okalany was not willing to step down from hearing his application.
The bail application now stands dismissed over Mukulu’s failure to prosecute it; and the Judge has now directed the Deputy Registrar Incharge of criminal matters to have Mukulu’s trial on charges of terrorism , murder, aggrevated robbery and belonging to a terrorism organisation -ADF, be fixed for hearing in one month.
This means Mukulu will have to remain on remand at Luzira prison for his trial yet he also expresses fear for his life; accusing the Officer In charge of Luzira upper prison of threatening him and denying him protection from his fellow inmates.
Mukulu who has been in prison for five years now, has appeared in court via video conferencing from Luzira prison.
His Mother who resides at Ntooke LC1 Bukolooto Parish in Kayunga District, Sisters, and other relatives were present in court.
Mukulu was committed and 19 charges confirmed for his trial; however he is still presumed innocent until proved guilty.
