FDC hopes New regime in DR.Congo will release Sam Mugumya
The opposition Forum for Democratic Change is optimistic that its five members held in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo could be released soon under the presidential pardon
These include Sam Mugumya who was the aide to Dr Kiiza Besigye
Mugumya and 4 others were arrested about 5 years ago for allegedly crossing into the DRC illegally.
The Secretary for mobilization Ingrid Turinawe says that they are in touch with DRC officials
Mugumya has spent five years in detention at Ndolo Military Prison in the commune of Barumbu near the capital Kinshasa.
Mugumya, an Opposition activist, was arrested in Democratic Republic of Congo in October 2014.
Mugumya, a Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party member was arrested, together with Aggrey Kamukama, Steven Mugisha, Nathan Bright and Joseph Kamugisha.
Government swore they would not be extradited back to Uganda, accusing them of engaging in subversive activities having been found with dollars and sensitive documents.
