FDC, ANT present signatures ahead of nominations
The opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC today presented the signatures required for nomination of their presidential flag-bearer for the 2021 race slated for November 3,2020.
The Presidential Elections Act requires aspiring candidates to collect at least 100 signatures from two-thirds of the total number of districts in the country (98 districts) as a precondition for their nomination.
As of last week, only 14 aspiring candidates including NRM’s Y Tibuhaburwa K Museveni, NUP’s Robert Kaygulanyi Ssentamu and independent Lt. Gen. (RTD) Henry Tumukunde, among others had presented their required signatures.
FDC officials first meet at the party headquarters at around10 am and later proceed to the Electoral Commission headquarters to deliver the signatures to support Patrick Amuriat Oboi as the FDC presidential flag-bearer 2021.
Meanwhile, The Alliance for National Transformation-ANT has today submitted its signatures to the electoral commission
The ANT electoral commission chief Dan Mugarura said they have presented 15,000 signatures before the commission to support ANT presidential flag-bearer Maj Gen (RTD) Mugisha Muntu.
