Ethics and Integrity ministry officials grilled over sanctioning indecent Nyege Nyege festival.
PARLIAMENT/Uganda: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has grilled the officials of the ministry of Ethics and Integrity over sanctioning the recently concluded Nyege Nyege festival.
The committee chaired by Chua west legislator Philip Polly Okin Ojara while meeting the Ethics and Integrity officials led by the ministry permanent secretary Alex Okello questioned how the ministry accepted Nyege Nyege festival to go on, which they termed as indecent activity.
Amdat district woman MP Rose Mary Nawaut faulted the ministry of Ethics and Integrity on not being assertiveness to convince the ministry of internal Affairs not to allow such
However ,Okello when asked where the proceeds of Nyege Nyege festival is taken , he responded that such questions should be directed to organizers and the minister of internal Affairs who allowed such a shows .
Okello also said that the act of pornography is still rampant and destructive in schools.
He told that committee that ethics and integrity is under facilitated to deal with pornography acts
He said that the pornography committed under the ministry of Ethics and integrity mandated to fight pornography, its activities is crippled by underfunding.
He noted that the porno committee requested 2.3 billion shillings in the financial year 2017/18 but only 1 billion released and in this financial year it was cut to 600 million shillings.
He said that there some many rotten things which has been discovered by the pornography committee.
