Election observers deployed for SIG polls
The Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy Uganda (CCEDU) has deployed its observers across the country ahead of elections for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that kick off next week.
This comes after the Electoral Commission issued guidelines and specific dates for the polls.
According to the guidelines, nomination of candidates for Village Committees will be conducted over a period of six days from Wednesday 29th July to Wednesday 5th August 2020 at the respective Sub County Councils
CCEDU’s Communications Officer, Charity Ahimbisibwe, says they are set to monitor the process from every village to ensure a free and fair exercise.
Polling for Village Older Persons Committees shall take place on 11th August 2020, with a total of 1,701,518 registered voters, while that of Village PWD Committees is scheduled for 13th August 2020.
The elections of Village Youth Committees are to take place on 17th August 2020.
