Distribution of Gov’t Face Masks Underway in Mbarara District
The distribution of government face masks is underway in Mbarara district.
The distribution is in line with a commitment by President Yoweri Museveni to provide free reusable masks to all Ugandans aged six years and above, as a pre-condition for lifting COVID-19 restrictions.
While handing over the 309500 government fabric masks to the sub county chiefs at Mbarara city council hall, the chairperson Mbarara district Capt.JB Bamuturaki has appealed to all the sub county chiefs, parish chiefs and local leaders that these masks are free but not for selling.
In his remarks the director Mbarara regional referral hospitals Doctor Celestine Barigye has been overwhelmed with demands for face masks from residents who could not afford to buy them.
He added that so far in Mbarara regional referral hospital they have treated 26 patients of covid-19 and discharged 16, remaining 10 patients.
