Denis Rukundo renews Police FC contract
Denis Rukundo has extended his stay with The Cops for the next two years. The right full back made the commitment on 29/7/2020 at Kibuli Sports Department Office.
“I am glad to renew my acquaintances with this historic club, we had a tough season but we are looking forward to putting the team where it belongs.” Rukundo said.
Abdallah Mubiru who was present during the deal said: ” It’s a pleasure to have acquired the services of Rukundo again. He is a good player with experience and personality. Its great having him on board.”
Rukundo played for The Cops last season after he was released by APR in Rwanda and this will be his second season with the club.
His performance at Police FC last season, where he replaced Paul Willa who joined Vipers, was commendable and the Cops had to keep their man.
He previously played for Maroons Football Club for four seasons, Saints FC and KCCC FC before signing for APR in September 2017.
He is the third Police player to renew his contract after Yusuf Ssozi and Johnson Odong.
Abdallah Mubiru’s side have also signed Tonny Mawejje, Tom Ikara, Eric Ssenjobe and Hassan Muhamood.
ABOUT DENIS RUKUNDO
Rukundo started playing football in his high school days at Nganwa high school, he played for Maroons Reserves before joining their senior team where he made over 100 games, assisting 35 times, scoring 8 goals and winning the big league trophy.
He moved to KCCA FC, played over 20 games, assisting 8 times as well as helping KCCA win their first double (UPL and Uganda cup) and the super cup most remarkably the CAF confederation by eliminating Al Masry to reach the group stages.
Joined APR in Rwanda playing over 40 games, assisting 11 times and scoring 3 times. Scoring a brace in the CECAFA in Tanzania. Helped APR win the super cup and Rwanda premier league.
Rukundo joined police fc last season assisting 6 times to survive relegation. So here we are with more 2 years for us to win a trophy in Ugandan football
