Defilement cases in Ibanda on the rise
A report by Police in Ibanda has indicated that cases of defilement have increased, attributing it to the COVID19 lock down.
According to the crime statistics from the office of the OCID at Ibanda police station, 12 cases of defilement were reported in June alone (the highest in 2 years) and a total of 27 cases have been registered across the District since February.
The Ibanda District Commander Emily Angomoku says this does not rule out the fact that some cases go unreported from the victims saying that some perpetrators allegedly connive with victims and their parents to solve issues amicably instead of reporting to police.
Angomoku advises that parents with adolescents should be security conscious.
