COVID_19: Gamblers resort to betting Cartoons and Virtual games
Gamblers are already feeling the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid_19) that caused postponement of games including the English Premier League, prompting many gamblers to resort to betting virtual games and cartoons like donkeys and dogs.
In Mbarara municipality western Uganda, a feeling of worry and despair can be seen on some gamblers’ faces at betting centres in areas of Kijungu,Rwebikoona and in the town centre.
‘We come here to work/bet because we have no jobs, but the games have been postponed so we are worried,’ a gambler at Kings Bet Rwebikoona can be quoted.
Meanwhile, some workers who preferred anonymity at centres like Liverpool house (Buremba road), Premier bet (Rwebikoona and Kijungu) and others, revealed that losses can be witnessed as they have been receiving at least 30 clients daily but since the postponement of the games they record demoralizing turnup.
In Uganda,no patient has been recorded yet (March 20,2020) as the nation continue to observe the 30/32-day shutdown of some places and halting of some activities that was on Wednesday sanctioned by President YK Museveni, and other preventive measures.
